🎉 Let’s Celebrate Emojis

🌟 We use emojis every day, so why not celebrate them? Welcome to 🌏 World Emoji Day. Join in the celebration on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook using the hashtag #WorldEmojiDay.

🙋 Why July 17?

July 17 1 is famously displayed on the iOS Calendar Emoji, which is why we chose it as the date for World Emoji Day.

Even if you are using a system with a different calendar emoji, that shouldn’t stop you joining in this global celebration of emojis! The date is part the reason this day was chosen, but the day is much bigger than just one emoji.

🗓 Join the Event

Let your friends on Facebook know your plans to celebrate by joining the World Emoji Day 2018 event on Facebook.

We’ll also keep you posted about local events that are taking place near you.

🗽 Look up!

The Empire State Building was lit emoji yellow for #WorldEmojiDay in 2017. If you’re in New York City, look up!

🗳 Cast your Vote

The 2017 World Emoji Awards are now closed. Your votes determined the winner of Best New Emoji, Most Anticipated Emoji, and the new Lifetime Achievement Award.

Winners were announced live from the New York Stock Exchange and streaming on Cheddar at 3.40pm on July 17, World Emoji Day.

🎤 Sing the Anthem

Written and produced by Jonathan Mann, we encourage you to upload your own video singing along. Or just put it on repeat in the office.

Let’s see Twitter alive with more emojis than it has ever seen. Include the #WorldEmojiDay hashtag in your tweet, so everyone else can follow along too. This year we have a custom emoji / hashflag that also shows the World Emoji Day mascot, Globe-moji!

Birthday on July 17? Not everyone is fortunate enough to have an emoji showing their date of birth. Be kind with your humble subjects on this day, despite knowing that you are the true emoji royalty.

If you are on a computer you can scroll through all emojis to copy and paste  in your browser. All modern mobile devices include an emoji keyboard.

So what are you waiting for?

1 The Calendar Emoji shows a different date on some platforms. This can be confusing. iOS and Android both display July 17, which covers a large number of people!
